A woman once told me that she'd sell a kidney for a Red Hook Tavern burger. After months of trying to get a reservation, we heard that they opened a sister location next door, appropriately named Tavern Next Door. We were able to secure a res and finally try this organ-selling-worthy burger.
The Burger
It was... good, but not life-changing. For me, the onions felt very overpowering (and I LOVE onions, so this is a rare comment for me). I found myself needing a little nibble of the pickle with every bite. The acidity was much needed to cut into the fattiness of the burger.
The fries, while pretty and with a unique cut, were nothing memorable in terms of taste.
The Star? The Prawns
We randomly decided to order the prawns to share as a starter and WOW! They were delicious. The prawns + the dirty martini with the perfect blue cheese-stuffed olive are worth a visit back. The burger, not so much.
